5 Places to go in Liverpool

Last week, I had planned to write a post reflecting on what has changed in my life since I moved to Barcelona and have since returned. However, considering everything that is happening in Catalonia right now I didn’t real feel like talking about myself and how Barcelona changed me whilst violence is being used against the people by the Spanish government as they seek their independence.

I’ll return to that topic at a later juncture but for now I will simply talk about some of the new places I have experienced in Liverpool and why I recommend you visit them. Enjoy!

My Dissertation aka My Novel

If it isn’t already clear to those of you who have been following this blog for nearly a year now (wow) or you haven’t read anything about who I am from way back in my first post; I am an English Literature with Creative Writing graduate. For my dissertation, I had to produce a piece of creative writing with a critical commentary and I chose to start a novel. Now, the trauma of tackling something as large and important as a dissertation has meant that I have neglected this piece of writing for quite some time and I did try to return to it when I was in Barcelona but other bits of writing have gotten in the way. But here I am again, thinking about this piece that I was so excited to get to when I first started planning it out and now makes me wince a little when I remember it or look at the date I last edited it.

Rest & Recuperation in Limousin

When it comes to travelling I normally try to go somewhere new because if I am going to put myself through the trauma of getting myself on a plane it may as well be for a place I have never been to before but sometimes holidays like that don’t feel like a holiday at all. When you land in a new city, desperate to see the sights and try out some new food, while figuring out where you are staying and generally gathering your bearings it doesn’t leave much time for relaxing in the end. Luckily, I get at least one week of R&R a year when I head to the center of France with my parents (and special guests sometimes) and proceed to eat my weight in croissants and power through as many books as possible. Goodbye, Barcelona and what is coming next…

I had planned on doing this blog post when I returned last Sunday, however, I had a pretty rough flight home and hardly any sleep the night before so I was too exhausted (and probably a tad too emotional) to sit down and write about leaving a city that has taken my heart.

So why did I leave?

My Big Announcement… it’s coming, I promise

Okay, I got some really exciting news on Monday night and I am dying to tell everyone but alas, I cannot spill the beans just yet. All I will say right now is that I have been working very hard over the past month to not just keep up with posting on this blog twice a week and adding more words to my novel but also working on new pieces of fiction as well as articles to submit to magazines and websites. The hard work seems to have paid off a little and I am feeling even more driven to keep creating new content, so to celebrate this until I can actually tell you all what will be happening in the next month, I’m giving you a little snippet of new novel-writing to read. I hope you like it and can wait a little longer to hear about all the exciting stuff! Continue reading My Big Announcement… it’s coming, I promise
